BNSHS Newsletter November 25
From the Principal's office
Congratulations to our Year 12 students who graduated last week. We held a graduation ceremony out on our oval inviting parents and family members on Wednesday 18th followed by the Prom on Thursday night 19th November. The students arrived looking fabulous in a variety of colourful gowns and suits. It was wonderful to be able to share the graduation celebrations with staff, family and friends.
On December 2nd we welcome our future Year 7 students for an Orientation day. Year 6 students from our district primary schools will be visiting and participating in a variety of activities that will assist them in getting to know their way around our school ready for next year.
Our Year 10 and 11 students finish this Friday. I wish them all the best for a safe and enjoyable break and look forward to their return next year.

PROM 2020
The coronavirus may have restricted many opportunities for our year 12s this year but it did not stop the Prom. On Thursday 19th November, the crowds assembled, the cars arrived and out stepped our wonderful graduating year 12s in all their finery. Popular colours of navy, gold, black and maroon featured in gorgeous gowns and suits. The students enjoyed an evening of fine dining, dancing and reminiscing with friends and staff.
Congratulations year 12s - we wish you well for the future. Remember your time at North High.

Feed Appeal - Rural Schools Grants
We are thrilled that BNSHS has been successful with a recent grant application. The Feed Appeal, Rural Schools Grant will fund us to further support our current Breaky Club – Toast n Talk offering. This will allow us to offer our students a yummy toastie one day a week over 3 terms in 2021. The Feed Appeal Rural School grants are focussed on ensuring that schools in rural communities can provide school breakfast and lunch clubs, so students are not disadvantaged and have the nutrition to support their learning and reach their full potential. The vision of the Feed Appeal is for no one in Australia to go hungry especially kids as they are our future. Our students will be very grateful for the generosity of Feed Appeal, so they can have a great start to their school day especially on those cooler mornings next year.

"Australian Institute of Physics” Excellence

Two Year 12 Physics students were recently awarded an “Australian Institute of Physics” certificate for excellence in Physics for their assessment completed to the end of Term 3, 2020. Connor McCartin-Snape and Maverick Pearce attained 90% or better in the course, as verified by QCAA, to be rewarded for their excellence. Congratulations Connor and Maverick. We wish you all the best in your chosen career paths.

MABH Class Victory
Mrs. Sudasinghe is glad to inform that, her students in her RAS class are well organised and maintained their responsibilities throughout the Year. As a result, the RAS class notice board IS filled with “Appreciation” and “Congratulation” certificates from Reprographics and Library.
I take this opportunity to “Thank all MABH students” for their effort and unity needed to achieve all these victories during the year.

Proposed timetable changes for 2021

On Wednesday 4th November we released to students and parents our proposed 2021 changes to the timetable and day structure.
We are invested in delivering quality teaching and learning practices to all students and these new proposed changes aim to provide our students with enhanced opportunities for success through improved delivery of curriculum programs. We appreciate the feedback of parents and carers and in order for us to gauge how many students may be staying at school for Friday 5 in 2021, please complete the survey below by Friday 27th November. Thank you to those parents who have already completed the survey. We are still waiting on information from Translink (re bus transport) and know that this may alter people’s decisions but please complete the survey at this stage knowing that the bus transport is as normal. If students are unable to be collected at 1.10pm or be able to walk/ride home etc please indicate that your student/s would remain at school.
